Core Concepts Testimonials
"The course gave practical tools to improve relationships, listen well, enjoy others, and engage more meaningfully with those whom we encounter"
"Core Concepts in Biblical Mentoring would benefit every single believer as it brings a great understanding of the soul and offers a platform for God to move to heal people's hearts."
"What a personally rewarding class and excellent for ministry preparation and growth."
"The concept of inviting someone to allow us to hear their story is so very organic, natural, unstilted, and genuine."
"The concept of “inviting someone to allow us to hear their story” is so very organic, natural, unstilted, and genuine. This is an encouraging idea because it is possible for all of God’s children to make a difference. My heart is in full agreement with the statement, “People are souls with layers to be discovered by relationships.”
I feel that I learned more about the undergirdings of what it is to be human, atop the foundation of the unfolding story of scripture. I saw the huge value in relationship, and how God planted that in our hearts from the beginning. I’m now seeing that the inner ache in the heart of every person is the echoing call of a loving, true Father, wooing us back to what we were made for. I learned that the very “ache” itself is a gift on the pathway to restoration. I pray that this teaching will produce a better, clearer, irresistible reflection of Christ in the people I rub shoulders with!"
"I have always been about "story"; however, the sad truth is it has always been about "my" story."
Not His story, or others, just mine. But after going through the two Core Concept classes taught by Dave Hutchins my “story” has drastically (and forever) changed. Of course my “story” has the same hurts, joys, discoveries, blessings and deep longing to be closer to our Father as it did before I enrolled in the Soul Care classes, but now my “story” has a God-focused purpose for connecting with those whom I meet, lead, support, mentor, and serve. David Benner states, in his book, Care of Souls,” Christian soul care is something we do for each other, not for ourselves.” These words set in motion a deepening passion to learn how to connect with others in a way that is outward serving not inward. I am learning to care for others in a way I could never have guessed possible – but God knew.
Today, I am still reading through my notes and assigned texts (that included Larry Crabb, Phillip Yancey, and others) with an ever-increasing desire to learn the skills and biblical context to help and serve those who God has placed in my life. These are people like my best friend, several Christian brothers and sisters who work for me, small group members, family, and even a colleague from work. I make the time and effort to listen with redemptive curiosity, seeking the opportunity/invitation to be invited into their story.
Please note that you may experience a wonderful blessing that you may not have anticipated if you engage in the Core Concept classes. Every day is a prayer life that is less inward-focused – “Lord I need” or “Lord why me” and more outward-focused: “Lord how can I help” or “Lord I am available.”
Mathew 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
"Attending Core Concepts in Biblical Mentoring at the Genesis Institute has helped me to reaffirm and remember my story with greater clarity."
"I have been able to fine tune and understand how my personal story fits into God’s ultimate and larger story: the story of salvation. Although we know how God’s story of life on earth will finally end, and as we live our lives out on earth, while abiding in Christ, one could say that together we are co-authoring the details of our life story, as God makes continuous edits along the way. “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28). Simply put, God is glorified when we trust in Him.
“If we have hoped in Christ, in this life only, we are of all men, most to be pitied” (1 Corinthians 15:19).
"I found the class inspiring, convicting and encouraging to trust in a good God who is at work in my life, and in the lives of people I care deeply about…"
"I felt personally challenged to allow Christ more and more access to my heart specifically as it relates to being a woman of God.”
"The content was amazing ~ approaching mentoring and relationships with the thought that is is not my responsibility to fix people, but rather to relate to them. I think more importantly, it really brought home how factual and true it is that Christ is involved in mentoring a relationship.”
"I would highly recommend this class for those seeking to know God more deeply."
"It is the most relevant class I’ve ever taken and the best mentoring and counseling training I have ever received. Anyone who desires to engage people well and listen to stories within God’s design for relationship would be a great fit.”
